The state of Hawaii requires all operators of PWC to carry proof of completion of a thrill craft operators course offered through the University of Hawaii Community College System.
The BoatU.S. Foundations's Free Online Boating Safety Course is NOT approved for thrill craft or PWC operators in the state of Hawaii.
Please note that the course servers reboot every day at 4:30AM Eastern Time (10:30PM Hawaii Time) and during this time you may experience slow server response or errors.
You must PASS all 7 lessons in order to receive your certificate of completion.
Plastic certification cards now available for $13. You can still print your certificate of completion free of charge OR you can order a new plastic card for just $13 once you've completed the course. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the delivery of your plastic card.
Anyone may take the BoatU.S. Foundation's course as for personal enrichment or as a refresher, but the certificate of completion does not meet the mandatory education requirements for thrill craft or PWC operators.
This NASBLA approved Boating Safety Course for Hawaii boaters covers everything from Navigation Aids and Emergency Situations to Rules of the Road and Required Equipment. Each of the seven chapters includes a quiz at the end for you to test your knowledge. After reviewing all chapters, you will take a 75 question final exam including 10 questions specific to the boating laws in Hawaii. Pass the exam with a score of 80% or better and you will then be able to print your certificate of completion.
